Rather than say “the area of the lot,” what you might do is state something like “the area of the land.” This will be more accurate because it includes all the dimensions of the land – including all the plant life and other features that make up that land. It is easy to calculate the area of a space when you divide it into its sections. If you have ever measured something, you know that you must use a formula of some kind to arrive at the measurements. For instance, if you are measuring the size of a door frame, you need to multiply the length by the width, then the height by the width, then the depth by the height, and so on. In order for this to be accurate, you have to be able to express all these measurements in a single number.
